Why Axopar and Targa belong on the watch list

That gives ABG readers a concrete reason to monitor the next event rather than assuming every regional boat show covers the category. The Axopar versus Targa comparison is useful preparation for the design tradeoffs. A generic brand comparison cannot tell you which model or option package will physically be at a future show.

Make the most of an indoor walkthrough

Use the controlled setting to assess things that do not require the boat to be underway: seating, sight lines, cabin entry, headroom, storage, access panels and the path to the foredeck. Bring the crew who will use those spaces rather than judging fit entirely from measurements.

Ask whether the boat is displayed with optional seating, an aft cabin, different roof equipment or a special electronics package. A quote for a less-equipped configuration may not reproduce the space or functionality that impressed you on the floor.

Do not infer rough-water comfort or handling from a static exhibit. Arrange an appropriate sea trial later, with the expected load and the exact propulsion setup taken into account.

Plan backwards from your first season

If spring delivery matters, ask what already exists in stock, what is on order and what would require a fresh factory build. Request a written sequence for commissioning, owner orientation and any seasonal preparation, without treating verbal show estimates as guarantees.

Check local service responsibility as carefully as brand representation. Ask who would handle engines, boat systems and warranty escalation once the boat is at your home port. Record the answers beside each finalist so the purchase discussion stays comparable.

Boston versus the in-water alternatives

Boston shares dates with Miami and overlaps Seattle. Do not choose between them simply by show size: choose based on confirmed models and the team that will support your boat.

For a later Northeast in-water comparison, keep Newport 2027 on the calendar. Its dates are announced, but next-edition model commitments remain a separate verification step.
